Switzerland (Basel): PV Sindhu became the 1st Indian Women to win the BWF World Championships, by defeating Japanese Nozomi Okuhara at the beginning of 38 minutes by 21-7, 21-7 & it was clear one-sided finals on Sunday.
PV Sindhu lost two consecutive finals of the championship in 2017 & in 2018 but clinched the gold on Sunday with a mix of mind game, power, patience and strategies.

PV Sindhu said “I lost in the last two finals and this win was very important for me. I want to thank the crowd who supported me every time as when required,”. after the match adding to her statement she say’s “I won this for my country whereas I am very proud to be an Indian. She continued “A big thanks to my coach Miss Kim and Gopi sir and the entire support staff who motivated me and supported me all times in my ups and downs. I also want to dedicate this to my parents and especially my mom, it’s her birthday today. So, happy birthday mom.”
This is PV Sindhu‘s fifth medal at the World Championships, which is the highest in women’s singles in the history of the tournament along with Xhang Ning of China, a two-time Olympic gold medallist. Apart from the two silvers,PV Sindhu won in the last two editions, she had also won the bronze in 2013 and 2014.
